This research was carried out in 3 cocoa-producing locations in the province of Lamas and in the “UNSM Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory” with the aim of studying mycorrhization and heavy metal content in cocoa cultivation with agroforestry systems in San Martín. Mycorrhizal colonization and cadmium concentration in root samples and cocoa beans did not show significant differences between the treatments studied; however, cadmium concentration in soil and leaves showed significant differences; where T3 had the lowest concentration (0.61 ppm) of cadmium in the soil, while T1 had the highest concentration of cadmium (4.6 ppm) in leaves, mycorrhizal colonization in cocoa roots showed a medium positive correlation with soil pH and a medium negative correlation with soil phosphorus, finally a moderate positive correlation was observed between soil cadmium and soil variables (MO and P), while a moderately negative correlation was found between cadmium in roots, leaves and the soil pH variable; cadmium in cocoa beans presented a medium to moderate negative correlation with soil variables (P, % MO and pH).
