First report of Megaselia sp (Rondani, 1856) (Diptera: Phoridae) on fruits of Phthirusa pyrifolia (Kunth) Eichler (Loranthaceae) in Venezuela

The presence of the genus Megaselia sp (Rondani, 1856) (Diptera: Phoridae) is recorded for the first time in Venezuela on decomposing fruits of the hemiparasite Phthirusa pyrifolia (Kunth) Eichler (Loranthaceae), popularly known as guatepajarito, a parasite collected from the of Puerto Ordaz City, located in the municipality of Caroní, Bolívar State, Venezuela (8º18'55''LN; 62º42'53''LO), very close to the junction of the Caroní River with the Orinoco River. It is also the first report of Megaselia sp for Bolívar State, Venezuela.
