Resumen

El objetivo de esta revisión de corte etológico es estudiar las diferentes características de la pastura en una pradera y analizar la respuesta del comportamiento durante el pastoreo. Se busca analizar los factores de la pastura que pueden llegar a influir en la cosecha de alimento, durante el consumo de pastura por parte del rumiante. Uno de estos factores puede llegar a ser la estructura de la pastura, por lo que existen actualmente teorías convencionales que buscan establecer una relación entre estos factores, explicándoles desde un ángulo metabólico y físico, pero no tienen en cuenta la influencia que las características "no nutricionales" de la vegetación ejercen bajo condiciones de pastoreo. Dada la importancia de la ganadería lechera en nuestra región, y del impacto que tiene esta actividad sobre el medio ambiente (ocupa los primeros lugares de contaminación ambiental producto de las constantes emisiones de gas metano en las deyecciones animales), es necesario ser más explícitos en las búsquedas y explicaciones que nos permitan conocer mejor los mecanismo que rigen su funcionamiento y poder buscar la manera de hacer más eficiente la producción reduciendo los daños colaterales (al ambiente) propios de esta actividad.
