The Ocotea genus is one of the few plants studied in the San Martin region. The research aimed to determine the yield and chemical composition of the essential oil of Ocotea aciphylla - Caserío San Juan del Abiseo. It is an applied type, with a quantitative approach and experimental design. The population consisted of the entire stem of the fallen plant and the sample was 10 kg of shavings. To obtain the essential oil, steam distillation was used with an 8-hour distillation. For the chemical components in the essential oil, the technique of Gas Chromatography coupled with Mass Spectrometry was performed in the SLAB laboratory. The yield was 44.37 ml, representing (0.4437%). The essential oil has 17 chemical components, in greater percentage are: selina-3,7 (11) -diene with 36.14%, followed by (E) -3- (2-methoxyphenyl) -2-propenoic acid with 13.92%, beta-bisabolene with 12.69%, dimethoxyquinox aline. The yield varies according to the distillation method, environmental conditions and part of the plant, in the same way the chemical composition differs even in its concentration percentage.
