Rapid urban growth has created a significant gap in solid waste management, critically affecting the Shango I ravine, located in the Calvario neighborhood of the city of Moyobamba. The research aimed to evaluate the implementation of a comprehensive solid waste management system for environmental conservation and protection in that area. Analysis methods, characterization techniques, and surveys were used. The results revealed high levels of contamination from solid waste and sewage, generated mainly by the inhabitants themselves and passersby. The average waste generation was 4.83 kg/inhabitant/day, with organic waste predominating (25%), followed by glass, paper, plastics, metals, and others. A training and awareness program was implemented for residents, focused on proper waste management and preservation of the ravine. The application of the proposed system proved to be an effective strategy for environmental conservation and constitutes a replicable model for other urban realities in vulnerable situations.
