The study of scientific production in Environmental Sciences allows us to broaden our knowledge in this area of great interest worldwide. The objective was to study the scientific production in Environmental Sciences in South America, its trends and comparisons. The data were obtained from Scimago Journals & Country Rank between 2000-2022 and statistically processed using the Infostat package, by classification-regression trees, and Spearman correlation. There are differences in the classification of countries according to the number of documents published, citations and self-citations. The results show that Brazil stands out in publications (59.56%), Bolivia in citations (11.12%) and Guyana in external citations (96.52%), likewise, there are different groupings of countries according to the tendency of their bibliometric indicators, with Ecuador and Peru being the most associated with other countries, on the other hand, the H indexes are related to Self-citations (Rho = 0.9037; p = 0.0000). In conclusion, it was shown that, in Environmental Sciences, the most productive countries do not generate more interest in their publications and that associations are present between the trends of the bibliometric indicators, it is also inferred that the H Index of the most productive countries is bulked by the number of Self-citations.
