The perspective of animal welfare is often underestimated and confused with just animal protection, however, for scientific criteria, animal welfare leads to analyzing all the factors that are involved so that animals can successfully overcome in productive and sanitary terms. , the challenges generated by breeding in exploitation and environmental criteria (Zamora, 2008). Therefore, professionals in charge of animal health and production must take into account the importance of animal welfare, not only for ethical criteria (which are fundamental) but also in terms of production and profitability. Therefore, it is transcendental that veterinarians, zootechnical engineers and zootechnical veterinarians work together in search of animal welfare and sustainable livestock production, in addition to facing other future challenges such as overcoming problems in breeding as a result of global warming, the reemergence of zoonotic diseases and new animal-human epidemics that may arise in the future.
