Abstract

The objective of the present investigation was to determine the ingestive behavior, number and weight of bite and grass consumption of Fleckvieh cows fed with Rye Grass - clover pastures in Cutervo, Peru. For which 8 cows of this breed were evaluated, which were in the second third of lactation and fed grazing with meadows with the association Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) "ecotype Cajamarca", white clover (Trifolium repens L.) and red clover (Trifolium pratense L.), approximately 45 days old. Descriptive statistics were used for statistical analysis. In the results, it was obtained that the animals, on average, spent more time grazing (7.40h ±0.86), followed by the activities that they carried out in a prostrate manner (rumination: 4.08h; rest: 4.51h). and the activities performed standing up (rumination: 4.09h; rest: 3.38h). Regarding the number of bites, it was 50 bites/min and the bite weight was 0.46 g DM/bite and a total grass consumption of 9990 g DM/day. It was determined that grazing time is the greatest activity carried out and that the animals are under undergrazing conditions.
