Animal husbandry praxis in degraded open dumps by solid wastes as a public health problem in Peru

In Peru there are areas where municipal solid waste is disposed of that do not meet the necessary technical specifications to be sanitary or safe landfills and end up in degraded conditions. It is known that in these areas degraded by solid waste, animals are raised for human consumption that feed on organic waste and that, when exposed to the presence of fecal matter in the waste, the probability of transmitting diseases such as cysticercosis, trichinosis, brucellosis, hydatidosis, taeniasis, etc. increases (Pan-American Center for Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Sciences (CEPIS-BS/PAHO), 2007).
