One of the main economic activities on the Island of Coche is fishing, which is the main source of protein supply for its population. This diversity of fish can function as paratenic hosts of the heteroxenous parasite, Anisakis sp., Dujardin, 1845 (Nematoda: Anisakidae), hence the finding of third-stage larvae of this helminth in a robalo (Centropomus undecimalis) caught by hand in waters near the island, represents an epidemiological alert for its inhabitants, who should cook these marine products better and it is also an ecological alert that will lead to better research on the relationship between the different species that intervene in the biological cycle of this euryxenus helminth and the marine environment where they develop, elements that could be intervening in the distribution and abundance of this nematode in areas where its presence was null or rare.
