The history and characteristics of the four microscopes brought to Venezuela from Europe in 1881 by Dr. José Gregorio Hernández are briefly described, discarding the popular myth that they were the first microscopes introduced in the country, when the correct truth is that they were the first microscopes with apochromatic objectives and immersion objectives imported to Venezuela, since in fact, the first microscope, even if it was simple, was brought by the Swedish naturalist Pehr Löfling in 1754, so it would arrive 127 years before Dr. Hernández's microscopes.
