Abstract

The teaching of history plays an essential role in the comprehensive education of students, as it promotes critical thinking, identity, and understanding of the past through the interpretation of historical events. However, in primary education, there is a decline in interest in this area, which limits the development of historical skills. Given this problem, the study aimed to apply the strategies of the Recreating History workshop to strengthen historical interpretation in primary school students. The research was based on constructivist and Montessori pedagogical approaches, promoting active and meaningful learning. The study was applied in nature, with a pre-experimental design and a sample of 27 students. Data were collected using a survey administered in a pretest and a posttest. The results showed a significant improvement in historical interpretation, with an average variation of 10.6 ± 2.8 points. Likewise, the Wilcoxon test showed a statistical value of -4.552 and a significance of 0.000, below the critical level of 5%. It is concluded that the strategies of the Recreando Historia workshop significantly strengthen historical interpretation in primary education.
